WORCESTER -- DC Brown proved to be the difference in the MIAA D2 Tournament.
The Plymouth North senior concluded his case for 2024 MIAA Player of the Year in the D2 championship game, earning his third postseason victory in a 9-2 defeat of No. 1 Walpole. Brown was the constant in the postseason run for second-seeded Plymouth North (22-3), dominating both on the mound and on the offensive side.
In three postseason starts on the mound, Brown was 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 20 ⅓ innings. He also had the game-winning RBIs in Plymouth North's other two postseason victories. He had a sacrifice fly that gave Plymouth North a lead against Westfield in the semifinal, and also converted a sacrifice squeeze to give his team a 4-3 walkoff win against Masconomet in the Round of 16.
Brown, the Patriot League MVP, was also dominant throughout the regular season, posting a 6-0 record and 0.50 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 42 innings. Here's a look at three stars from the MIAA D2 championship game.
