GBG Northeast Hawks director Joe Breen will return to the MIAA coaching ranks in 2025. The former Stonehill College baseball team captain and longtime travel ball coach has accepted the head coaching position at Bishop Feehan.
It could be an opportunistic move for Breen, who had a previous successful stint as the Mansfield High head coach from 2015 to 2020. Breen's Mansfield teams posted a combined record of 77-37, earning Hockomock League titles in 2015 and 2018. Mansfield also earned selections to the MIAA Division 1A "Super 8" tournament in 2018 and 2019. Breen earned 2015 Division 1 South Coach of the Year honors.
Breen will inherit a Bishop Feehan roster that includes New England's top-rated pitcher in the Class of 2026, 6-foot-7 lefthander Brody Bumila. Breen has coached Bumila with the GBG Hawks, helping the pitcher develop a fastball that tops out at 96 mph. Bumila this summer earned selections to the Area Code Games and the USA Baseball Development Program.
The Bishop Feehan pitching staff also includes another incoming junior who possesses a fastball that has eclipsed the 90-mph mark, right-hander Andrew Shute. It is a rarity for any MIAA program to have two pitchers of that caliber.
