We've just about reached the midway point of the MIAA season.
Checking the all-important MIAA power rankings will become a daily impulse for many around the Commonwealth. Soon enough, the stretch run of the regular season will ramp up, and the playoffs will be here.
The brackets are slated to be released on Wednesday, May 28, before tournament action begins Friday, May 30. Before we know it, champions will be crowned at Polar Park on Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14.
There's been a lot to keep track of so far this season. As expected, Catholic Conference powers like St. John's Shrewsbury and Xaverian, as well as a new-look BC High, the defending Division 1 champs, have been among the top programs. Quality teams in the Bay State Conference have been beating up on each other. Elsewhere, Plymouth North is off to a strong title defense in D2, while a pair of Hockomock powers have quickly made their presence felt.
So, which teams and players have been as good as advertised? Who has surprised us? Which questions remain for the stretch run?
Let’s dive in.
