WORCESTER – Oakmont needed a spark.
Locked into a pitchers' duel and trailing 1-0 No. 2 St. Mary's in the bottom of the fourth, starting pitcher Caleb Allen took matters into his own hands at the plate.
The senior ripped an RBI single up the middle to tie it up 1-1 after Sam Curtis singled and stole second. Allen followed it up with a 1-2-3 top of the fifth on the bump before No. 1 Oakmont took control in the bottom half of the inning.
Jake O'Day got things started with a single before a walk for J.J. Walker and a bunt for Ty Curtis loaded the bases for Johnny Losordo. The junior came through with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring O'Day to give Oakmont a 2-1 lead. Sam Curtis followed it up with an RBI single to make it 3-1.
Allen stayed in control the rest of the way, retiring the side in both the tops of the sixth and seventh en route to a repeat Division 3 title.
