There is little doubt as to the identity of the premier program in Massachusetts.
For the third time in four posteasons, Taunton captured the Division 1 state championship as its deep pitching staff and relentless lineup catapulted it past the likes of Boston College High School, St. John's Shrewsbury, and rival Franklin on its way to the crown. The Tigers were dominant in their final game, jumping out to a 6-0 lead before ultimately defeating the Panthers, 7-2, for the second consecutive season.
There was also a repeat champion in Division 2 as Milton defeated King Philip for a second straight year to bring home the title. The starting duo of Owen McHugh and Scott Longo became extraordinary come the postseason to go with the return of Tommy Mitchell. The darling of Division 3 was Oakmont, a team that finished our poll in the five-spot. In a game of wild emotional swings, the Spartans scored a run in the seventh to tie it before ultimately defeating Medfield in extra innings to win the title.
The Cinderella of the tournament was Methuen, a No. 21 seed that impressively knocked off a pair of top-five seeds. Here is our final MIAA Baseball Top 10 poll of the 2023 season.
