Trejyn Fletcher certainly didn’t make it easy on pro scouts this spring.
Widely considered one of the top prep prospects for the 2020 MLB draft, Fletcher had Northeast region scouts’ heads spinning when he transferred early this year from Trinity-Pawling prep school in New York to Deering High School in Portland, Maine.
After transferring, he petitioned MLB for the right to reclassify for the 2019 MLB draft — a petition that eventually was accepted.
Scouts were then left with the unenviable task of driving up the East Coast to Portland, Maine, in hopes that Mother Nature would cooperate so that they could see the 6-foot-2, 195-pound outfielder perform on the baseball diamond.
