After four New England schools earned conference championship titles and found themselves on the “Road To Omaha” in NCAA tournament play, New England Baseball Journal looks back at the best players from the 2021 season that was with its annual All-NEBJ teams.
The loss of the Ivy League season and a conference-only schedule for one of the region’s best teams didn’t lessen the number of standout performances during the pandemic-altered spring. The region produced an incredible crop of talent showcased in our First and Second Teams, including a number of players that garnered various All-American honors.
BIG EAST champion UConn leads the way with six total All-NEBJ players, three on each squad. The Huskies and Fairfield -- the authors of one of the best stories in the game after producing the best-ever winning percentage across a Division 1 regular season -- both have three First Team honorees. Three other clubs have two All-NEBJ First Team honorees.
In a season dominated by a record level of experience across college baseball, the teams include five first-year or second-year freshmen. Two “rookies” were selected to the top team.
