The “Road To Omaha” is officially on for the 64 Division 1 college baseball teams still remaining across the country.
The tournament bracket was unveiled during ESPN’s traditional Selection Show time slot on Memorial Day afternoon. Sights are now set on Friday’s start of double-elimination regional round action at 16 sites, with best-of-three Super Regional series and the College World Series in Omaha to follow.
After champions were crowned at six different conference tournaments this past week, Connecticut was the lone New England to qualify for the field of 64. The two-time reigning Big East champion Huskies will begin play against Wake Forest at 1 p.m. Friday in College Park, Md.
However, the region will be well represented by players on teams from coast to coast. Below, NEBJ has compiled a list of local natives competing in the NCAA tournament.
