With a new school year underway and fall baseball soon to begin in the region, New England Baseball Journal’s look at transfers across all NCAA levels continues.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of the NCAA Transfer Portal have created busy offseasons in college baseball in recent years. It is no different so far in 2023.
Players opting to go into the portal are not required to transfer or guarantee they will transfer, but it leaves the door open — and allows other schools’ coaches to speak with them. Last summer began with more than 3,000 players in the portal, and the trend has continued since.
Our latest “transfer tracker” post includes another new catcher for Boston College, a pair of Division 2 teammates headed to the highest level, a newcomer to one of the region’s top D3 programs, and a Massachusetts native heading south for his graduate year.
If you know of a New England transfer — from any level — that we have yet to mention, please email the author at jkummins@baseballjournal.com.
