The COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of the NCAA Transfer Portal have created busy offseasons in college baseball in recent years. It is no different so far in 2023.
Players opting to go into the portal are not required to transfer or guarantee they will transfer, but it leaves the door open — and allows other schools’ coaches to speak with them. Last summer began with more than 3,000 players in the portal, and the trend has continued since.
Our latest “transfer tracker” post includes a big addition for Northeastern, catchers moving in and out of Boston College, and local additions to the rosters at Rhode Island and the newest Colonial Athletic Association program.
