NCAA transfers: Bryant, UMass Lowell, Northeastern add depth pieces

College baseball rosters at all levels throughout New England continue to change throughout the fall as players get a better sense of their respective roles heading into the spring season.

College teams, despite carrying more than 30 players on their rosters, have only 11.7 scholarships to spread throughout the team. For those players who do not foresee a roster spot or a road to playing time on their current teams in 2022, there is always the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Players opting to go into the transfer portal are not required to transfer or guarantee they will transfer, but it leaves the door open — and allows other schools’ coaches to speak with them. The summer began with more than 3,000 players in the NCAA Transfer Portal.

This continues our offseason series of NCAA transfer updates that we expect to continue throughout the fall. Our previous update featured a Division 3 College World Series hero making a move to another one of the region’s top programs, among others.
