The return of our local “transfer tracker” posts includes a powerful boost for BC, the creation of a brotherly duo at UConn and two notable risers from the Division 3 ranks. The ongoing series that began in the spring after the 2020 baseball season was cut short due to COVID-19.
The pandemic and the rise of the NCAA Transfer Portal have created busy offseasons in college baseball. Players opting to go into the portal are not required to transfer or guarantee they will transfer, but it leaves the door open — and allows other schools’ coaches to speak with them. Last summer began with more than 3,000 players in the portal, and the trend has continued since.
