With a new academic year heating up, New England Baseball Journal’s look at transfers across all NCAA levels does as well.
Our latest “transfer tracker” post proves that UConn will again rely on transfers in 2023. We also have a member of the D3 national champion Eastern Connecticut squad earning a D1 opportunity, a Rhode Island legend getting a postgraduate opportunity at Rutgers, and a former UConn Huskie taking his act to the Big Ten Conference.
The pandemic and the rise of the NCAA Transfer Portal have created busy offseasons in college baseball. Players opting to go into the portal are not required to transfer or guarantee they will transfer, but it leaves the door open — and allows other schools’ coaches to speak with them. Last summer began with more than 3,000 players in the portal, and the trend has continued since.
If you know of a New England transfer — from any level — that we have yet to mention, please email [email protected].
