It was another terrific college season for New England programs with outstanding performances from local teams and players.
Babson and UMass Boston both advanced to the Division 3 College World Series. The Beavers were making their first CWS appearance, while the Beacons qualified for the second time in three years and were just one win away from the national championship series.
In Division 1, Harvard won its first Ivy League championship and clinched its first NCAA tournament berth since 2005 — one of four New England schools in the tourney, along with UConn, Central Connecticut State and Quinnipiac. And in Division 2, Southern New Hampshire advanced to the super regionals before bowing out to NYIT.
