This year’s crop of hitting talent across New England is one of the more diverse, both in terms of where they come from and where they may end up.
Unlike in past years, there are no virtual locks for any high school player to be taken in the MLB draft purely for his hitting instincts, according to local scouts. But there’s a number of players on the board that are on the college/pro fence who could catapult their stock with a strong spring.
Truly upper-echelon left-handed power hitting is rare for high schoolers up here, but there are several bodies that fit the mold, along with several others who have taken big steps forward since we last checked in with them in 2018.
