The college season is under way with the prep and high school seasons to follow soon. As many as three New England natives could be looking at seven-figure signing bonuses after this year’s MLB draft if all goes well this spring.
Our monthly ranking of the top MLB draft-eligible players includes New England natives — but not players from outside of New England on local college teams.
1. Mason Feole
The left-hander missed the start of the UConn season after suffering a minor injury to his triceps muscle in January, but has made a pair of abbreviated starts among the Huskies' first 12 games. The second was a 74-pitch 4 1/3 innings at Texas State on Saturday in which Feole didn't allow a hit. Out of the blocks, he has a 2.45 ERA, holding opposing batters to a .120 average.
