The venerable New England Collegiate Baseball League has long offered the opportunity for some of the region’s top players at all levels to come together and play with those from some of college baseball’s top programs each summer.
Once again, New England talent dots all 13 rosters, including the Mystic Schooners and North Adams SteepleCats, who each have used their local crops to take an early lead in their respective divisions with seven wins apiece.
The league also welcomed in a new team this year as the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks changed affiliations from the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. Several of the Sharks players are returning and have local ties, including one of the early leading hitters in the NECBL.
