Playoff baseball is fast approaching in the New England League.
On Monday, Aug. 2, the NECBL will become the first of the region’s three summer circuits to conclude the regular season, which consisted of 42-game schedules in 2021. The season will continue for at least one extra day as all 14 teams are slated to make the playoffs and chase the Fay Vincent Sr. Cup in this summer’s unique format.
Postseason play will be conducted exclusively within the North and South Divisions, with the No. 1 seed earning a bye to the first of three best-of-three rounds. The remaining six seeds will play in a one-game wild card round on Tuesday, Aug. 3, immediately leading into the divisional semifinals. The NECBL Championship Series is scheduled for Aug. 10-12.
Before then, there are still several days of great baseball to go as the playoff races near an end.
