The long-awaited New England Collegiate Baseball League season is finally here.
After a year’s absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NECBL returns to the diamond this week. The season officially kicked off June 3 with a four-game schedule. Five more games will follow on June 4.
The league’s 27th season will feature 42-game regular seasons for all 14 teams, playing exclusively within the Northern and Southern Divisions. The schedule will run through Sunday, Aug. 1 and feature a Fay Vincent Sr. Cup postseason including every team at the conclusion.
The New England League’s Southern Division counts the league newcomer Bristol Blues among its seven teams. The six-time champion Newport Gulls also reside on this side of the league and will serve as the hosts of the showcase event of the summer, the 2021 NECBL All-Star Game, on Sunday, July 18.
