The Hamden Hall baseball team played mediocre ball for the opening two weeks of the season, posting a 3-4 record. Nonetheless, Hornets coach Brad Chernovetz fully expected his team to break out of its funk.

After a loss on the road to St. Luke's School, Chernovetz met with senior captains Cam Maldonado and Christian Scanlon.

"We were starting three freshmen, four sophomores and two seniors,'' said Chernovetz. "We talked about their expectations and what we had to do to get better. I told both of them that they had to do more."

The Hornets went on to win 15 of their next 16 games, resulting in Fairchester Athletic Association and NEPSAC Small School Invitational Tournament championships.
