Although there was no high school baseball in New England this season, that didn't stop Gatorade from naming the recipients of its annual state player of the year selections.
The Gatorade State Player of the Year award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, has been presented each season since the program's inception in 1985.
The Gatorade selection committee factored in players' baseball achievements from the 2019 season as well as their scholastic accomplishments during the 2019-20 academic year.
Here are the bios for the Gatorade State Player of the Year selections for Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
