When thinking about baseball in the Northeast-10 Conference, Franklin Pierce and Southern New Hampshire usually come to mind first. And for good reason. One of those two schools has played host to the NCAA Division 2 East Regional for seven consecutive seasons, while the conference champion has resided in the Granite State in three of the past four years.
Last spring, though, the NE-10 trophy moved from the state of New Hampshire to the University of New Haven, where the hometown Chargers had to take down both of the league’s powerhouses en route to arriving in the winner’s circle for the first time since 2013.
"From an experience standpoint, having our players go through that last year gives them an idea of not only the feeling of winning a championship, but what it entails and the hard work it takes to get that done," head coach Chris Celano said. "The core of the team is back, which has us very optimistic, but I think repeating is even tougher than winning it the first time."
