The college baseball season is underway for the majority of Division 1 teams in the region. Ten of the New England region's 19 clubs have played two weekends of competitive games, while seven more teams opened their respective seasons last weekend.
From a scouting perspective, New England's top-ranked programs like UConn, Northeastern and Boston College tend to draw the most attention. However, the return of Ivy League Baseball figures to bring more scouting eyes to the region in 2022.
Most regional scouts spent the last two weekends on the road, seeking out Northeast players in states like Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Louisiana. Many of those regional scouts are planning to return home for a March 8 matchup between UMass and Northeastern at Friedman Diamond in Brookline.
