Though it was short lived, the 2020 season was a great one for Northeastern.
The Huskies boasted the nation’s No. 11 RPI -- tops in the Colonial Athletic Association -- after winning 10 of their last 12 games on the way to a 10-5 finish. Included in the team’s successes were a three-game series sweep at South Florida and a pair of wins at Florida Atlantic.
Numerous players were able to carry the momentum that coach Mike Glavine’s program gained into strong summer seasons in the Futures and Newport Collegiate Leagues, and the team will look to do the same in 2021 as a strong cast of returnees are back on campus in hopes of running it back.
Redshirt senior Kyle Murphy (Billerica, Mass.) is back in the Huskies’ pitching plans after getting the Friday night call during this past season’s weekend series. He held opponents to a .188 average, posted a 3.00 ERA and struck out 25 batters across 18 innings in 2020.
