Northeastern returning sophomore Aiven Cabral has a chance to represent Team USA as a member of the 2023 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
Cabral is currently in the Collegiate National Team Training Camp as part of a 58-man roster that will be narrowed down to 26-man roster is selected in early July.
Cabral and the other training camp selections are participating in a series of intrasquad scrimmages this week at the USA Baseball complex in Cary, N.C. The final 26-man roster will compete in international friendlies in Cary, N.C., and Charleston, S.C., in July.
"This has definitely been a goal after speaking with (Northeastern coach Mike Glavine) about it," Cabral said. "They ended up reaching out originally to say that I wasn't selected, but they called back after a meeting (last week) and said they decided to bring me out."
