Should Sebastian Mexico not find his future in baseball, he can always make a name for himself in marketing.
Late last winter, once Mexico learned his spring baseball season was cancelled due to the pandemic, the then-Phillips Academy junior knew how much a lost season could impact his recruiting process. With no college coaches flocking to Andover to watch him perform in person, he wondered how would he gain the attention he so desperately clamored for during the most pivotal stage of his high school career.
Being relegated to stay home once Phillips decided shut down its campus, the Baldwinville, Mass., resident took it upon himself to finds ways of getting his name out there. Mexico felt if coaches couldn't come to him, he would go to them, with the help of social media.
With the assistance from his father, Todd, Mexico created a Twitter account to which coaches from around the country could view his postings of various workouts and production routines.
