Nick Dombkowski couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come at the University of Hartford.
Who could blame him after the 2020 season — his junior campaign with the Hawks — came to an abrupt end back in March?
Having the season canceled “crossed our minds and we thought it might have been coming, but it was devastating hearing the news,” said the West Springfield, Mass., native, who compiled a 0.90 ERA, 20 strikeouts and allowed just seven hits across 20 innings this past spring on the way to winning all three of his Friday night starts.
“Personally, I just wanted to go out there and hit the ground running,” he said. “For a New England school, those beginning weekends are very important for you to get locked in on the mound. I felt really comfortable and the confidence was there.”
