Every collegiate baseball player, of course, has dreams of playing at the professional level. For the here and now, though, Kevin Donati’s dream is a reality — sort of.
The Pittsfield, Mass., native and rising junior at the University at Albany is in the middle of his second summer as a member of his hometown Suns.
"I grew up going to the games my whole life and watching these guys, always thinking they were pro baseball players," said Donati, who was a four-year varsity player and two-time All-Western Massachusetts selection at Pittsfield High School. "Being in their shoes now is pretty cool." And his second season is off to a great start. Fresh off earning America East All-Conference second-team honors this spring, Donati was one of the FCBL’s top players through the season’s first 10 games, as he hit .405 with three home runs, seven RBI and 11 runs scored.
