The latest guest on The Base Path Podcast is a recent inductee to the Mass. Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, former three-time state champion coach at Lincoln-Sudbury, Kirk Fredericks.
The 50-year-old Fredericks, who won three state titles in a seven-year span at Lincoln-Sudbury, was one of four inductees in the MBCA’s 2024 class, joining Charlie Eppinger (St. John’s Shrewsbury), John “OB” O’Brien (Lynnfield), and Steve Wilson (Harwich and Monomoy).
Fredericks coached at L-S from 2002 to 2015, winning state championships in 2005, 2007 and 2011. He led the Warriors to 13 Dual County League titles and an overall record of 269-68. Fredericks also helped create the Division 1A ‘Super 8′ tournament, drafting a plan with Eppinger that was passed by the MBCA and MIAA tournament committee.
The Lincoln-Sudbury athletic director chose not to rehire Fredericks after the 2015 season, and he has not been a head coach for an MIAA program since.
