Podcast: Prep midseason review

The latest episode of The Base Path Podcast is a prep midseason review with Dan Guttenplan and Pat Donnelly.

The two NEBJ analysts break down all of the leagues in the NEPSAC, including the ISL, CNEPSBL, WNEPBL, Founders League, and Fairchester Athletic Association.

Guttenplan makes his predictions for league champions, MVPs, and other end-of-season awards. He likes Roxbury Latin to unseat St. Sebastian’s in the ISL.

“I’m going to go with Roxbury Latin,” Guttenplan said. “I’ve heard many coaches compliment them and say how deep they are, especially on the mound. They can match up the pitching. When Gavin Wainwright pitches for St. Sebastian’s, they kind of need him to go seven innings and shut down the opponent. For Roxbury Latin. I don’t think anybody needs to go seven innings.

“So, I don’t think there’s as much pressure on the starting pitchers of Roxbury Latin. They’re so deep. And like I said, Tom Pender’s always stirring up that offense.”
