Ty Wosleger joined The Base Path Podcast to share the formula for the Westminster School’s turnaround since his hire as head coach in 2020.
In the season before Wosleger took over, Westminster went 0-18. Last season, Westy won 13 games, including two wins each against Founders league powers Choate Rosemary Hall and Loomis Chaffee, and another against eventual CNEPSBL champion Deerfield Academy.
“I think (the turnaround) was a matter of going out and having targeted kids in recruiting,” Wosleger said. “The kids that come to mind are the Masse brothers. I had known Bill Masse, who is a baseball lifer, since I was in high school. To get his older son (Rowan), who was a hockey/baseball guy, that’s when things started to turn. That gave us a really good Division 1 shortstop. We got the inside track on his brother, Easton, who is going to be a Division 1 catcher.”
Wosleger and his staff have helped 20 players land opportunities to play college baseball over the last four seasons. This year’s team has seven players who are committed to college programs.
