Austin Prep administrators and trustee members made the decision in January of 2022 to leave the MIAA in favor of the NEPSAC for the 2022-2023 school year.
Following the school's inaugural season playing against fellow prep programs, the risk has turned into reward. The Austin Prep baseball team, in particular, posted an 18-4 record in the NEPSAC one season after going a perfect 25-0 on its way to a D3 championship in its final season in the MIAA.
"The first year in the NEPSAC for our athletic programs has been a great transition,'' said Austin Prep Athletic Director Patrick Driscoll. "The NEPSAC community has been extremely welcoming. The level of competition is matched by the level of sportsmanship. This experience will impact our student-athletes in positive ways both in the short term and long term.''
Prior to the start of the baseball season, coach Jonathan Pollard knew the level of play would increase on the prep side.
