After spending one year at South Shore Vocational High and two years at his hometown Scituate High, Jordan Barthel transferred to Austin Prep a year ago as a reclassified junior.
Since his arrival, Barthel has become a productive two-way star with the Cougars. A right-handed pitcher and first baseman, the senior has slid to the forefront of the talent level within the NEPSAC.
Barthel was productive on the mound last season in a relief role, allowing no earned runs. At the plate, he batted .469, banging out 13 doubles, three triples, and a home run. He finished with an OPS of 1.401 and also drove in 19 runs. Those stats earned him All-NEPSAC and First-Team All-NEBJ honors.
Barthel made his decision to transfer to Austin Prep after the former MIAA representative won the Division 3 state championship in 2022.
