When the powers that be at St. Thomas More School decided to terminate its baseball program following the 2021 season, it felt like a gut punch to head coach Bob Hetu.
After spending three hard-working seasons (2019 to 2021) building the Chancellors into a legit contender, Hetu, in spite of the news, still had a burning desire to continue coaching. He immediately began looking around for any secondary schools in need of a coach.
His wait was short-lived. Hetu has found a new home at Connecticut-based Putnam Science Academy, where he accepted the head coaching position.
"My intent was for St. Thomas More to continue the baseball program,'' said Hetu. "But with the school deciding to go co-ed and their commitment to basketball and football, along with other things such as dorm space and bussing, it ran into a problem. I know everyone involved at St. Thomas More was disappointed to see the school discontinue baseball.''
