David Cataruzolo grew up in house of educators and coaches. His father Mike and mother Patti both enjoyed long and successful careers working at Perkins School For the Blind in Watertown, Mass. Mike and Patti, both legally blind, met at Perkins School and married. Mike served as a volunteer coordinator there for 60 years, and was also a physical education coordinator and wrestling coach. He died last year.
What Mike and Patti passed down to their son allowed him to establish a better understanding -- and a special appreciation -- of strength, belief, the power of education and perseverance.
"I grew up immersed in a school culture,'' said Cataruzolo. "I think I have always been aware of the impact and connections that good teachers and coaches have on their students and players. I know my coaches had that kind of impact on me and my life.''
Cataruzolo has served as Director of Alumni Affairs and Planned Giving at Roxbury Latin School since 2013. In addition, he is also head varsity baseball and hockey coach at the all-boys school. He took over the Foxes hockey program in 2015 and was named baseball coach in 2017.
