The combination of defense and timely hitting each played a significant role in the season-long success of the Hamden Hall Country Day School baseball team. That intangible would also carry over into the Fairchester Athletic Association Tournament.
The Hornets capped off an incredible year by defeating Brunswick School 4-3 in Friday's FAA championship. The win exacted revenge after Hamden Hall fell to the Bruins in last year's title tilt.
The Hornets finished the season 24-2, including an unblemished mark in the FAA of 16-0. With talent abound, Hamden Hall did not rely on just one or two players. It was a total team effort from start to finish.
"It always seemed to be a different player every game who came up with a big hit or big play,'' Hornets head coach Brad Chernovetz said. "This team has become so close that it has been great to see."
