Ever since Rocco DeMaio III saw varsity play as an eighth-grader, his offensive numbers reflected his ability to provide production.
The Hopkins School junior batted .385 as an eight-grader, .302 as a freshman, and .450 last season as a sophomore, to go along with a .467 OBP, 1.003 OPS and 11 stolen bases.
DeMaio, who bats left and throws right, is an extraordinary three-sport athlete at the New Haven, Conn., school. He also plays quarterback on the Hilltoppers football team and is a guard on the basketball team.
However, it appears baseball will take precedent once he reaches the collegiate ranks. As a member of the AAU CT Grind (Orange, Conn.) program, DeMaio has partaken in some highly-notable summer showcases, including the PBR Futures Game, the 2022 14U Perfect Game New England Elite Championship, where he was named game MVP, and the 2024 17U Perfect Game New England Elite Championship, again receiving MVP honors.
