GROTON, Mass. -- Standing 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Lawrence Academy '25 John Paone is still learning the nuances of becoming a power, right-handed pitcher.
Paone began his high school career at Lexington (Mass.) High School in 2020-21. After a year or remote learning with no baseball season due to the pandemic, Paone transferred to Lawrence Academy to repeat his freshman year.
"My initial season at Lexington was a shortened season, so I basically lost a year, particularly a social year in high school,'' said Paone. "I kind of wanted the four full years of high school, so I reclassified. When I got here to LA, baseball wasn't really a main priority. I was looking more for an academic fit. With LA having smaller class sizes and the support you are provided here, I felt it was the right move.''
Paone met with Spartans head coach Chris Margraf during his official visit to the LA campus and immediately fell in love with the school.
