In the life of a prep school coach, there are limited grace periods. All prep coaches work diligently year-round to build upon their respective programs, always casting an eye towards the future.
Much of that time is spent seeking out potential student-athletes to bring into the fold whether it be for one season or multiple seasons. Coaches do their homework on any player showing interest in their school, but it goes far beyond an athletic standpoint. Prospective candidates need to be sound academically, have good character references and, in most cases, maintain a certain level of maturity to handle the rigors of a demanding academic and athletic schedule, as well as adapting to life away from home should they choose to live on campus.
Obviously, such a criteria is not for everyone, but there are many student-athletes who check all of the boxes in their attempts to pursue a top-notch education and play a high level of baseball.
A number of prep school coaches have been fortunate to add to some quality student-athletes to their programs for 2022. New England Baseball Journal reached out to a number of coaches to get their lists of future prospects coming in for next season. Some schools opted not to partake in this story because of players who have yet to officially announce their transfer status. New England-based players are identified by their previous school attended. Others, from outside of New England, are identified by their hometown.
