Back in 2021, Deerfield '23 Ryan McHugh narrowed his college choices to Boston College, Northeastern and Harvard. The Narraganset, R.I., native chose the latter, opting to challenge himself academically at one of the most prestigious schools in the nation.
"Playing college baseball at the Division 1 level has been a childhood dream of mine,'' said McHugh. "To get the opportunity to play college baseball at Harvard under a great coaching staff is an honor and a privilege.''
McHugh says the Harvard coaching staff first saw him during a PBR event as a sophomore. The Crimson coaching staff, consisting of head coach Bill Decker and assistants Bryan Stark, Nate Cole and Morgan Brown, continued to follow McHugh's progress.
"I spoke with Coach Decker frequently throughout the process,'' McHugh said. "He was nothing but supportive and excited for the journey.''
