New England's top recruit in the Class of 2024 will be joining the defending national champions.
Worcester Academy '24 Mavrick Rizy ended his recruitment process, which ramped up after he decommitted from UConn in June, by selecting LSU among a half dozen SEC programs. Rizy made visits to a few SEC campuses in the fall before deciding on LSU over other top-10 programs, such as Vanderbilt.
Rizy, a 6-foot-9 right-hander with a low-90s fastball, led Worcester Academy to a Central New England Prep School Baseball League (CNEPSBL) Tournament championship this spring on its way to earning the No. 1 ranking in New England Baseball Journal’s end-of-season rankings. This summer, he served as the ace of the Team Massachusetts staff at the GEICO High School National Championships in June before earning invitations to the East Coast Pro Showcase and Area Code Games.
Rizy explained his decision to de-commit from UConn and reopen his recruitment in late August on The Base Path Podcast.
