With a new season underway in earnest during the first week of April, New England Baseball Journal is pleased to announce the return of the weekly Prep School Coaches Poll.
A new season hasn’t changed the way things look at the top as defending Central New England Prep champion Phillips Andover retains its No. 1 spot. The Big Blue is one of seven teams that finished last season as a ranked team, while three have jumped into a top-10 slot after receiving votes in the preseason edition of NEBJ’s poll.
In addition, 15 other teams received top-10 consideration on at least one coach’s ballot. As a refresher, teams receive 10 points for a first-place vote, nine for a second-place vote, eight for a third-place vote, etc. Coaches from around New England serve as voting panelists for the poll, which is released each Tuesday during the season.
