It's conference tournament season for some prep programs around New England. The Central New England Prep Baseball (CNEPSBL) and Founders League postseason tournaments will begin this weekend, as 16 New England prep programs compete in the two tournaments.
The Independent School League (ISL) will continue to conclude its season without a playoff tournament. There was some momentum for the implementation of an ISL playoff tournament prior to the 2020 season, but COVID interrupted that plan, and the idea has been tabled ever since. However, ISL lacrosse teams are playing a trial postseason tournament this spring, so there is hope that baseball will follow suit in 2023.
Phillips Andover (15-3 overall/8-2 CNEPSBL) earned the top seed in the CNEPSBL Championship Tournament, named in honor of longtime Worcester Academy coach and athletic director Thomas Blackburn. Loomis Chaffee (14-2) earned the top seed in the Founders League Championship Tournament.
Here's a look at the seeds and schedules for the two New England prep tournaments.
