Prep preview: Cheshire returns talented core from WNEPBL tourney team

Nobody is going to argue that Cheshire Academy should be a better team in 2020. The bigger question will be how much better?

Last season, Cheshire managed a respectable campaign by posting a 10-6 overall mark and qualifying for the Western New England Prep Baseball League (WNEPBL) tournament. Unfortunately, the stay was brief as the Cats were eliminated by Salisbury School in the semifinal round.

This season Cheshire returns a core group of experienced veterans along with a bunch of talented newcomers. The lessons gained from last year should assist the Cats in their quest of returning to the postseason tournament and making a deeper run this time.

Coming back are senior shortstop Mike Giove, senior third baseman Luc Yokoi, junior first baseman Connor Fishbein, junior John Brucato, second baseman and junior pitcher Jace Lopez.
