Throughout its 222 years of existence, Deerfield Academy has prided itself on being one of the most esteemed academic institutions nationwide. It goes without saying that the private school's reputation transcends well-beyond the borders of the United States. With its rural, picturesque campus, Deerfield continues to be a prominent landing spot for a multitude of students from across the world in search of higher learning.
Not to be overshadowed, Deerfield also boasts a solid athletic stature in a number of sports as well.
Among them is baseball in which the Big Green have snared their share of accolades over time. In preparation of the 2020 season, the primary focal point is to bring the program back to the promised land behind a highly-motivated, inspirational and solid baseball-minded coach.
Three years ago, Pat Moriarty accepted the head coaching post here after spending 12 seasons in that role at Springfield Cathedral/Pope Francis High School. Moriarty had a very successful track record at the Springfield-based school, in which he went 183-77. In 2016, he took the Cardinals to the MIAA Division 1A Super 8 Tournament, becoming the first and only Western Mass. school ever to do so.
