As the calendar turns to April, New England Baseball Journal is pleased to debut its inaugural Prep School Coaches Poll. Head coaches from around the region were asked to select their top 10 teams from all leagues, producing the following results.
The poll will be released each Tuesday during the season here on baseballjournal.com, where a team-by-team preview of the prep season was recently released in the April issue.
This week, the first five teams ranked received more than 50 total points (teams receive 10 points for a first-place vote, nine for a second-place vote, eight for a third-place vote, etc.). Following its second consecutive Western New England Prep title in 2017, Cheshire is the top-ranked team and earned four first-place votes. Defending ISL champ St. Sebastian’s earned five No. 1 nods and sits second. Three other teams ranked took home first-place votes.
