Prep Top 10: St. Seb’s takes over at the top

By Joshua KumminsApril 24, 2019

While nine of the ranked teams remain the same as last week, New England Baseball Journal’s Prep School Coaches Poll sees a new team jump into the No. 1 slot for the first time this season and another jumping back into the ranks.

Three ranked teams are undefeated, but St. Sebastian’s jumped Andover to claim this week’s top spot. The Arrows earned two wins this past week to improve to 9-0, while Big Blue remains at 4-0. Rounding out the ranked undefeateds is Taft, which has won its first six games. Worcester was ranked in the first poll of the regular season, but the Hilltoppers return to the ranks at their highest point in an otherwise steady field.

In addition, 15 other teams received top-10 consideration on at least one coach’s ballot. As a refresher, teams receive 10 points for a first-place vote, nine for a second-place vote, eight for a third-place vote, etc. Coaches from around New England serve as voting panelists for the poll, which is released each Tuesday during the season.

Those interested in participating can email Joshua Kummins (jkummins@baseballjournal.com) for more information. Here is NEBJ’s second Prep School Coaches Poll of the season:
