Many of the region's top high school prospects gathered on the Cape over the last two days for Area Code Games tryouts, hosted by Northeast regional scouts for professional organizations.
The invite-only tryouts were held at Gov. Fuller Field in Falmouth, home of the Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. The tryout included players from the high school/prep classes of '23 and '24 -- with a few '25s in the mix. Players were from states ranging all along the Eastern Seaboard, from South Carolina up to Canada.
The 2022 Area Code Games, considered one of the top high school showcase events in the country, will be played Aug. 6 to 11 at the University of San Diego. There will also be an Area Code Games tryout at Fenway Park on July 11.
