The Boston Red Sox Scout Team made a run to the Round of 16 in Perfect Game’s most prestigious showcase event of the year over the weekend in Jupiter, Fla.

The Red Sox Scout Team went 2-0-2 in group play against other regional all-star teams at the Perfect Game WWBA World Championship. The Sox then advanced to the playoffs and beat an all-star team based out of Las Vegas, Nev. Playing in the Round of 16, the Sox eventually fell to an all-star game from McKinney, Texas. The WWBA World Championship is the top scouting attraction in all of amateur baseball each year. More than 700 MLB scouts and college coaches are expected to be in attendance.

The Red Sox scout team roster included 13 players from new England. It was one of two teams based out of New England that gained entry into the PG WWBA World Championship -- along with NEB National. A total of 25 New Englanders also played in the tournament for teams based outside of New England.

Here is a look at the five New England players who stood out for the Red Sox Scout Team at the WWBA World Championship, with commentary from coach Steve Lomasney.
