Jason Foley was truly the longest of longshots to make it to the majors. And yet make it he did in 2021 with the Detroit Tigers, and with impressive results to boot.
A talented pitcher from Long Island, Foley was nevertheless overlooked by most Division 1 programs before landing at Sacred Heart.
“I was on the fence pretty hard about even playing college baseball,” Foley said. “I wanted to play. I just wanted to make sure it would be a school that provided a good education and that I actually wanted to go to, outside of playing baseball.
“I passed up a lot of opportunities to go to college showcases and put myself out there. And I didn’t get recruited heavily. That was one of the only Division 1 schools that offered me a spot.”
